The start of a F1 season always has that extra bit of excitement. New pecking order, exciting driver pairings and fearless rookies. The 2002 Australian Grand Prix had it all. Ralf Schumacher, driving again for Williams-BMW started third behind his brother Michael in the Ferrari. On pole was Rubens Barrichello, looking for a fresh start hoping to finally challenge for a title after finishing third in 2001, whilst teammate Michael comfortably took a fourth title. But as Rubens lead away, it was Ralf who had the best start, taking second of the line and challenged for the lead towards turn 1. Barrichello defended, first to the inside, then back to the middle of the track before braking perhaps a bit too early. Ralf had already lifted of a bit to make way for the weaving Barrichello, and was sure to leave plenty of space for his brother on the outside. He did not expect Rubens to come back right in front of him at the same piece of tarmac and there was nothing he could do to avoid. The rest is history, with numerous of photographers and cameraman being able to make a picture they could only have dreamed of.
